We will share the work of our research papers in in-class presentations during week 14. You have the responsibility of preparing slides and a brief talk. The idea of a research presentation is that it includes all of the central elements of your research paper in summary form – conveyed in a compelling manner in about 8 minutes (and absolutely no more than 10). The rest of the class is responsible for showing up as an attentive and engaged audience.
How to prepare for your research presentation?
- Share your presentation with me on OneDrive (it should be in your research folder in any case)
- Be prepared with a 6-8 minute (maximum of 10 minute) presentation of your work
- Dress professionally or semi professionally (if you want more details look up “business professional” or “business casual”)
We will work on our presentations in class on Friday of week 13.
The slides that you prepare should include the following:
- Title slide. Paper title, your name, class, date
- Introduction
- Historical Question
- Historiography
- Argument
- Context
- Examples
- Conclusion
- Thank You
- Citations
And a note for the audience:
- Please don’t leave class during the presentations.
- Your role is to be engaged listeners – listen carefully and be ready to ask questions
