Week 9 Research Assignment – Initial Bibliography

Week 9 Research Assignment Due—Initial Bibliography for your Research Paper

  • The assignment for this week is to present an initial bibliography for your research paper. It should include:
    • a working title that defines the topic
    • a sentence or two to explain the question you are going to explore

      • 3-10 primary sources – depending on the length of each – together they should make a substantial corpus of perhaps 25-50 pages – typically these would all come from the same moment in time

      • 1 or 2 historical monographs – scholarly works by historians that shed light on your topic or its context – must be since 2000
      • 1 or 2 historical surveys – scholarly works (such as Kovarik) that provide context or background on your topic – must be since 2000
      • 1 or 2 peer-reviewed journal articles or book chapters – scholarly works by historians – that shed light on on your topic – must be since 2000
